Chapter Fourteen
Torch
AS SOON AS the gunfire erupted, my first thought was my wife. Scanning the yard, while pulling my gun and heading for the front of the clubhouse, I watch Wrath make his way to Becky and Hollie. He gets them behind an overturned picnic table before bullets fill his body. Fuck! I canât focus on that right now. My attention has to be on getting to the front of the clubhouse so we can catch who just turned my wedding day into a day of pandemonium and tragedy.
It feels like hours pass as we make our way from the back of the clubhouse to the front. Staying close to the side of the building, we finally get to the parking lot as multiple dark SUVs with blacked-out windows tear from the road in front of the clubhouse. The gate is broken down and laying on the ground, with the Prospect guarding it down on the ground just behind it.
Racing to his side, I take in Steveâs prone body surrounded by a pool of blood with a bullet hole between his eyes.
âFuck!â I roar out, standing up and sprinting to my bike as everyone else mounts theirs.
Satan looks at me and I shake my head in response to his unanswered question on Steve. Though I didnât like his first encounter with Becky, he was a good kid and didnât deserve to be killed just because of his affiliation with the club. Starting our engines, we quickly pull from the compound and head out in separate directions. Splitting up is the best way to catch these assholes who are going to die at our hands. Weâre all done with Juan and his fucking bitches and he just declared war. His death will be the slowest and most painful out of everyone in his organization.
I follow Satan and Grinder as we split up into smaller teams once we get into town. None of this was discussed, itâs just what we do when weâre out looking for someone. People in our town are walking down the streets and going about their lives, not worrying about being shot up just because of who your family is. they donât have a clue what just happened at our clubhouse or that a war is about to take place. This is how we keep our town safe; they donât know shit that touches us.
We comb each and every street before making our way out of town to the abandoned properties and into the next town over. Iâm trying to keep my thoughts from turning to Becky and how she more than likely needs me by her side right now. Sheâll have the other olâ ladies by her side while weâre out riding around. This is my job right now as much as Iâd love to be curled up in her body. Shaking my thoughts, they turn to Wrath. He gave his life protecting my wife and Hollie. There is no other way heâd rather die than that right there.
